There may exist words out there that are eloquent enough to do Lauryn Hill's debut solo album justice but I sure as shit don't have them. From the first track to the last, she will open your mind, break your heart, and repeat those two procedures on you until you forget the fact that you're operating a motor vehicle and that you've been swerving in and out of your lane to the beat of the music for the past 77 minutes. In The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Ms. Hill beautifully highlights one of the best parts of being alive: the genuine, intimate, deep connections (however good or bad) that we have with other people. The connection can involve a mother laying her eyes on her newborn child for the first time, two young lovers driving home from a long first date on the beach, or anything and everything, outside or in between.
The sample track from the album was selected using a random number generator (because it would have been silly to try and pick the "best" or the "most representative" or the "most powerful" track from this album).
