Ever wonder what happens when you take several superstar rockers from various bands and smoosh them all together to form a rock 'n' roll super-robot? The result is The Dead Weather and its ass-kicking abilities rival those of the Power Rangers' machine (even with the green ranger attachment). We've got members of The Raconteurs, The White Stripes, The Kills, and Queens of the Stone Age joining forces to bless the world with some serious fucking rock 'n' roll. Just pop in their latest album, Sea of Cowards, push play, and the first track will hit you like a ton of bricks. "Blue Blood Blues" contains the heavy lead guitar riffs that are indicative of the sheer power of the rest of the album. Throw in some dirty drums and Alison Mosshart's untamed vocals and the tone is set. There is no break. There is no rest. It is simply thirty five minutes of face-melting rock. The use of the synthesizer in "I'm Mad" is nothing short of orgasmic (you will literally hear the song orgasm at about 1:40). By "Jawbreaker," your body will be exhausted but your loins will crave more.
More raw melodies; more guitars distorted to perfection; more fast drums; more cutting vocals; a sound as natural as breathing and as vital as water.
Children of the new millennium should be forcefully exposed to The Dead Weather as part of the regular high school curriculum. This will give them a necessary break from their shitty rap and assembly-line manufactured electronica.
Finally, the Rock Gods have decided that our ears and minds have suffered enough, and they have delivered to us a gift.
